Here is a typical day in the life of work...

Shipping, packing, receiving, etc...

...tripping over boxes - being my usual clumsy self

going where?
fragile?
you want it when?

and I used to like packing peanuts & bubble wrap...

(well, I still like bubble wrap!!!)

This is a picture of the lights on our Christmas tree this year. I have to say "Thank you!" to my son for helping me! This is my favorite 2008 Christmas picture!

Playing around...

I have always loved cameras and pictures (being behind - not in front of the camera). I have always wished that I had the eye to catch great pictures. I have an aunt that can take incredible pictures and that may be where my interest started.

The camera I had up until this past Christmas was a simple 35mm that I was given after I graduated from high school so many years ago. This camera had traveled the world with me - literally. I took it with me when I was over seas, and I still have many undeveloped rolls of film to prove it! But alas - I realize that this 35mm is a little on the out-dated side these days, and that is why I had a digital camera on my list for Christmas.

I was playing around with some of the settings the other night. It has taken me a couple months to even get around to just playing with it. I saw a really neat scene the other evening with the moon and Venus and trees and sunset and thought it would make a great picture. I ran inside to grab my camera to see what I could capture. It turns out that I captured a big spot - which was the moon - and a little spot - which was Venus - and a bunch of nothing. I admit - I need a lot of help with my skills - wait - who am I kidding - I HAVE NO SKILLS!

That being said - here is a picture I took that I kinda liked.

This is the tequila bottle in our fish tank. I'm sure you are now asking yourself "Why there is a Patron bottle in the fish tank?" The answer is simple.

It was there.

Here is another picture of the same bottle. Again you are asking "Why?" and again I answer - It was there. (FYI - said bottle was emptied before being placed as the only decoration in our tank.)

Hopefully as time progresses - I can get that one great shot. But until then - I will keep trying. Maybe I will even try & post the progression of my "skills".

hmm...

I wish that the weather here would make up it's mind. Last week - it was in the 80's. Completely GORGEOUS weather! Especially for the end of February! There are people out there (I am sure of it) that would love to have the weather we are having. But here I am - sitting around complaining about it. It's not the 80 degree weather I am complaining about - it's the 50 degree drop it took over the weekend.

Now - I am trying to make sure that the household is staying healthy - and not getting sick. That seems to be a lost cause though already, because when the temperature does this - my man gets sick. He has been doing better lately with getting sick - it hasn't been as severe these past couple of times! That I am grateful for!

This morning was COLD! The freezing mark is cold for around here and that is where we were when I came into work. I am just hoping that spring decides to get here & stay this time.
This has been such a strange year for the weather. When the trees started budding out after Ike hit us, I think that everything went into shock. We even got 6 inches of snow in December - which according to a few of our elder locals - hasn't happened in close to 60 years. That was actually fun though. If it's going to be cold - it might as well snow!

The temperature is supposed to warm back up this week - back into the 80's by weeks end. I am just SO ready for the warm weather.

So here's the thing...

I have finally decided to give in and see what all the hubbub is about with this blogging thing. Let's give it a shot and see what comes of it. Maybe it can become a forum for the ramblings that make their way through the back of my mind, maybe it will be an outlet for my opinions about what is right or wrong with the world as I see it, and just maybe it won't. I am not sure what the purpose of this blog will show itself as - I am guessing that only time will tell. I am not always articulate when it comes to writing things down - so I apologize in advance - once and only once! So if you actually take the time to sit there and read, then thank you! I am hoping that there will be some interesting topics I can entertain myself with (and any reader which happens by).

I guess I can enlighten you a little as to who I am - at least as to how "society" may categorize me as. I am a 34 year old woman, living in small town Texas, working the small town life, trying to survive in these times. I have an 11 year old son who is (dare I say) smarter than I am. I see this as something to be proud of and to brag about! Not the fact that I may be getting dumber as time progresses - but the fact that my genetics helped create this brilliant mind that I refer to as my son. His dad had a lot to do with it too! These 2 are the men in my life! Both brilliant and both a pain in my a**, but I love them with all my heart!! Well - that isn't really all I am - there is much more to me (I keep telling myself this)! Enough for now though!

to be continued...
